IPL Auction: Giant Aussie Allrounder Cameron Green Breaks Mitchell Starc’s Record

Cameron green Rs 25.20 crore for KKR

Mumbai: Cameron Green set the IPL auction for 2026 on fire.

The giant Australian allrounder, who is all of 6 feet and 6 inches tall, fetched a record price tag of Rs 25.20 crore as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) brought him on board after an intense bidding war which also involved Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The 26-year-old Green displaced Aussie teammate Mitchell Starc from the recor

d books at the mini auction held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Green, who missed last year’s mega auction due to an injury, became the costliest overseas player in the 18-year history of IPL. He surpassed the Rs 24.75-crore price tag of Starc, who was also acquired by KKR, in the 2024 auction.

In the 2023 auction, Green went for Rs 17.50 crore to Mumbai Indians.

On Tuesday, Green also became the most expensive player ever sold in the history of a mini auction.

The first overseas player to be sold for over Rs 25 crore, Green’s previous appearance in the world’s richest and most popular T20 league was in the 2024 IPL, when he turned out for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The other big overseas buy was Sri Lankan Matheesha Pathirana, the man with a slinging action who went to KKR for Rs 18 crore.
