IPL Auction: Unfancied Foreigners Rake In Big Moolah On Day 2; Check All Final Squads

Bengaluru: The marathon two-day IPL Auction ended on Sunday night, with 204 players out of 590 who had been listed bagging contracts.

As is the trend with mega auctions for the world’s richest T20 league, the second day threw up a few surprises as well.

Unlike Saturday, foreign players ruled the roost, with two lesser fancied allrounders earning the fattest purses.

England allrounder Liam Livingstone became the costliest overseas player of IPL 2022 auction after Punjab Kings bought him for Rs 11.5 crore. Tim David of Singapore, who has been playing in T20 leagues round the world, was roped in by Mumbai Indians at a cost of Rs 8.25 crore.

Mumbai Indians also bagged enigmatic England pacer Jofra Archer, who has been in and out of cricket due to multiple injuries, for a whopping Rs 8 crore.

As for Indian players, Delhi Capitals shelled out Rs 5.25 crore for left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Rs 4.25 crore for young Chetan Sakariya, another left-arm seamer.

The auction signalled the end of the road for IPL veteran Suresh Raina, who remained unsold.
