Nayagarh: Irate locals of Bijipur village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district thrashed a teacher for allegedly misbehaving with a minor girl on Wednesday.
According to sources, Biswanath Muduli, a physical education teacher (PET) of Bijipur High School, used to conduct tuition classes near the school in a private house every evening.
On Tuesday evening, he called a Class-VIII minor girl to the other room and misbehaved with her.
The girl later narrated the incident to her family members, who accompanined by some villagers dragged Muduli out of his house and severely thrashed him after tying him to a pole.
Though the Fategarh police arrived at the village following information, it had to return after failing to trace the teacher.
Meanwhile, senior police officers of the district headquarters rushed to the village on Thursday morning to discuss the matter with the people.
