New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) will resume its e-catering service for pre-booked lunch and dinner meals on trains at select stations from February 1.
Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in Odisha are among 62 stations across the country where the service will be available initially, according to the list released by the Ministry of Railways.
The other major stations where the service is being restarted in the first phase include New Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal, Patna, Surat, Ahmedabad, Pune, Howrah, Vijaywada, Ernakulum and Ujjain.
“The e-catering service discontinued by Indian Railways during the COVID crisis is now going to be resumed at selected stations from February 1. The service will be launched keeping all security-related rules in check to provide better and preferred catering for the passengers,” the ministry tweeted in Hindi.
The e-catering service, launched by IRCTC in 2014, was suspended for nearly a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
