New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) is set to resume full-fledged services of cooked meals in trains.
IRCTC informed on Friday that cooked meals service will resume fully from February 14.
“Of the total number of trains, cooked food had already been restored in 30% by December 21, 80% by January 22… the remaining 20% shall be restored by February 14, 2022. Cooked food on premium trains (Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto) had already been restored in December 21. Ready to eat meals would also continue,” IRCTC’s press release stated.
IRCTC’s decision to fully restore the cooked meal service comes amid a decline in COVID-19 cases in India.
The services were suspended in March 2020 after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has already given the go-ahead to all airlines to serve cooked meals on domestic flights.
