Cuttack: A large number of women on Monday blocked a ‘Subhadra Sachetanata Rath’ in Odisha’s Cuttack district alleging lack of communication from the authorities’ end about movement of the awareness vehicle.
According to sources, the woman Sarpanch of Jamara panchayat in Nischintkoili block were informed that the vehicle meant for creating awareness on the flagship scheme will pass through their locality.
On spotting the Subhadra Sachetanata Rath they resorted to a protest and blocked the vehicle today morning at the panchayat office.
The gram panchayat (GP) official said due to work pressure he could not fetch information from the district headquarter about the schedule.
The GP nodal officer said that people were unhappy over the delay in arrival of the vehicle. The Sachetanata Rath was not blocked and local people were informed about the event, he added.
The official said a fruitful discussion was held and the matter will be settled soon.
Ahead of the launch of Subhadra Yojana on September 17, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday flagged off a Subhadra Sachetanata Rath to create awareness among beneficiaries of the scheme.
Majhi said the special chariots will go to every nook and corner of the state and inform people about the scheme.
In another case reported from Rourkela last week, police detained a shop owner for selling duplicate forms of Subhadra Yojana and charging applicants for uploading the same on the scheme’s portal.
The nodal officer for the scheme during the inspection detected the irregularity at the shop at Ganesh Market in Odisha’s steel city. He was detained and his computer was seized, sources said.
