Boudh: A cyclist sustained critical injuries as an iron rod pierced one of his eyes after he fell into an open drain at Dhalapur in Odisha’s Boudh district on Saturday.
As per preliminary information, the man was travelling on a bicycle when a vehicle suddenly went past very close to him in a high speed. The man lost control over the bicycle and fell into the uncovered drain.
As soon as he fell, an iron rod pierced one of his eyes, leaving him grievously injured.
Locals rescued the victim and rushed him to hospital for treatment.
Tension prevailed in the area after the mishap as irate locals blamed the Works Department for leaving the drains open in the locality. They demanded adequate compensation for the victim.
Earlier, a biker had died and a student got injured after falling into the open drain in the area, they claimed.
