Konark: A pod of Irrawaddy dolphins was found swimming close to the Chandrabhaga beach near Konark in Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday.
During boating, some tourists spotted about 20 to 25 dolphins swimming together about 150 metres from the beach in the early hours.
The Irrawaddy dolphin is a Euryhaline species of oceanic dolphin found in discontinuous sub-populations near sea coasts and in estuaries and rivers in parts of the Bay of Bengal and Southeast Asia. These species are also found in Chilika Lake.
