Bhubaneswar: Is a Depression/Deep Depression likely to form in the Bay of Bengal and head towards the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast next week?
“Conditions should be conducive for a monsoon low to form over the northern Bay of Bengal early next week. This low has the potential to become a Depression & Deep Depression before striking eastern #India between N #AndhraPradesh & #Odisha to #WestBengal late next week,” tweeted Jason Nicholls, Lead International Forecaster and Senior Meteorologist at AccuWeather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), however, has not made any such forecast. The midday bulletin issued by the IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar only said, “A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest & adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha north Andhra Pradesh Coasts and extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.”
