Mumbai: Son of Veteran Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, Anand, has again refuted false rumours surrounding her health, following the circulation of a misleading social media post. It all started when a Facebook user, Shabana Shaikh, shared a post which had a garlanded image of the singer with the caption reading: “Famous singer Asha Bhosle passed away a musical era ends (01 July 2025).” Reacting to the news, Anand Bhosle said, “It’s untrue.” The post has been now deleted.
Anand’s statement comes as relief to fans and confirms that Asha Bhosle is not only alive, but continues to engage in public appearances.
Contrary to the death hoax, the 91-year-old artist was indeed present at a recent public event. She attended the theatrical re-release premiere of the classic film Umrao Jaan in June, where she performed the iconic number “Dil Cheez Kya Hai”, alongside Rekha and composer Muzaffar Ali.

Social media vulnerability: The rumour gained traction due to the emotional impact of a garlanded image—an emotive but often misleading visual cue.
Immediate clarification: Anand’s clear and brief response—“It’s untrue.”—helped stem the tide of misinformation.
So what’s the truth? Asha Bhosle is very much alive, actively participating in events, and the sensational rumours of her passing have been officially debunked by her son.
