New Delhi: Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday that Tesla boss Elon Musk is welcome in India only if he wants to manufacture in the country.
“Elon Musk is welcome in India. However, it won’t be possible if he is only manufacturing in China and wants a concession for marketing in India. If he manufactures in any Indian state, only then he can avail the concession and benefits,” Gadkari said at Agenda AajTak.
The minister reiterated that he wants to make India the world’s No. 1 manufacturing hub in automobile industry, which presently valued at around Rs 7.5 lakh crore.
“This industry is the only industry that pays the maximum amount of GST to state government and the Centre. The Indian automobile industry has given employment to 4 crore people,” Gadkari said.
