New Delhi: Navjot Singh Sidhu is back on Kapil Sharma’s show after over five years, during which he spent time in jail, struggled with his wife’s cancer and celebrated his son’s wedding. Kapil Sharma, who recently hosted Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy along with Zomato founder Deepinder and wife Gia Goyal, gave a sneak peek of his next guest – none other than the cricketer-turned-politician. Sidhu also took to Instagram to share a teaser of himself being on the sets of The Great Indian Kapil Show, leaving Archana Puran Singh worried.

In the Great Indian Kapil Show teaser, Sidhu can be seen sitting in Archana’s chair when Kapil jokes about Sunil Grover dressing up as Sidhu once again. However, the former cricketer quickly clarifies that he is the real Sidhu. We soon see Archana Puran Singh joining the frame, and nervously asking Kapil about Sidhu’s return. She says, “Kapil, tu sardar sahab se bolde mere kursi se uth jaye, kabse kabza karke baith gaye hai (Kapil, please ask Sidhu sir to leave my chair, he has occupied it).”

The show also has Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu as well as Harbhajan Singh with his wife Geeta Basra.  Soon after Sidhu shared this teaser, his fans flooded the comments section with ‘We missed you’ messages.

A user wrote, “Legend is back. We missed you Paaji”. Another fan commented, “So good to see you back in the show. This show was never the same without you.” Other comments read, “Sardarji is back”, “The king is back”, and “waiting eagerly”, among others.

Navjot Singh has been part of Kapil Sharma’s show since he made his debut on Colors channel in 2013. However, in 2019, the celebrity cricketer-turned-politician had to leave the show post his comment on the Pulwama attack in that year.

Speaking to the media, the Congress leader had then said, “It (the terror attack) is a cowardly and dastardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.” He added, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?”

Soon after this statement, many took to their respective social media handles to slam the former cricketer with many even demanding a ban on The Kapil Sharma Show. The hashtag, ‘Boycott Sidhu’ trended online. Post the controversy, Sidhu was replaced by Archana Puran Singh, who continues to be a part of the show as its special guest.

Though Sidhu has made a comeback on the show, he has just returned as its weekly guest. There has been no official statement on his permanent return on the Netflix show, The Indian Express reported.
