Mumbai: Balaji Telefilms head honcho Ekta Kapoor is preparing for the third instalment of the horror franchise ‘Ragini MMS.’
As per reports, the producer is mulling a change — from erotic horror genre to horror comedy — for the upcoming film.
According to Pinkvilla, Ekta is already in talks with Tamannaah Bhatia for the lead role in ‘Ragini MMS 3’.
“Ekta Kapoor has been wanting to make the third part of Ragini MMS for a while now, and she has brain stormed several ideas to complete a trilogy. She has finally got a subject that doesn’t only blends into the world of Ragini MMS, but takes things to another level with a potential rebranding into a new genre. The film is all set to take the film on floors towards the end of 2025,” a source was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.
“Ekta discussed the idea of Ragini MMS 3 with Tamannaah Bhatia on the sets of Vann, and the actress was stunned by the horror quotient the film has to offer. The film also has scope for chartbuster music, and the team is on the hunt for a song that could take the nation by storm. Interestingly, Ragini MMS 3 will be the biggest film of the franchise and Ekta is looking to rebrand the film as a horror comedy, breaking ties with the horror-erotica space of the earlier two films,” the source added.
The 2011 film ‘Ragini MMS’ featured Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala in lead roles.
‘Ragini MMS 2’, which starred Sunny Leone, hit theatres in 2014.
Besides ‘Ragini MMS 3’, Ekta is also working on a mytho-thriller, helmed by Anil Rahi Barve of Tumbbad fame.
