Mumbai: Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan’s ‘3 Idiots’ remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic films.
Now, with Aamir confirming that a sequel is in the works, fresh reports suggest that the makers are considering Vicky Kaushal for the role of a “fourth idiot” in the upcoming instalment.
“Kaushal is keen on sharing screen space with Aamir Khan and contributing to a franchise that enjoys immense recall value,” a source was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.
“Multiple meetings between Vicky, Aamir, and Hirani have already taken place, and Vicky has verbally agreed to play the part of the fourth ‘idiot,’ though the timelines have to align for the entire ensemble,” the source added.

rther claimed that Vicky is expected to begin shooting for the ‘3 Idiots’ sequel only after completing his commitments for ‘Mahavatar’, which will involve an extensive schedule.
Speaking to Amar Ujala, Aamir shared insights about the sequel, revealing that he has heard the story and finds it “wonderful.”
“Raju is working on 3 Idiots 2 right now. I’ve heard the story, and it’s wonderful,” Aamir said.
“The script still needs some work, but the story itself is really good, unusual, with the same humour as the first film. It follows the characters from 3 Idiots, picking up 10 years later,” he added.
Expressing his excitement about playing Phunsukh Wangdu again, Aamir said, “It’s a beautiful story conceived by Raju and Abhijat. I’m looking forward to it, and to playing Phunsukh Wangdu again.”
On the work front, Vicky was last seen in the historical film ‘Chhaava’, which turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2025.
Vicky is currently busy shooting for ‘Love & War’, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film also features Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
