Mumbai: Ankit Sagar, who played ISI agents’ banker Javed Khanani in ‘Dhurandhar’, took a subtle dig at YRF’s spy thrillers ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Tiger’, saying ISI and RAW agents won’t dance in real life.
“I want to work with everyone. Even they (YRF) have given hit films, but Dhurandhar is a film based on reality. At the same time, it is also a commercial film. It has everything that a good film should have. That is why Dhurandhar reached so many people. ISI and RAW agents won’t dance with each other in real life, but
maybe they want to please all sides with their film in order to make money from all sides,” Ankit told Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel.
The actor further praised ‘Dhurandhar’ for its realistic approach, suggesting that realism gave the film a strong edge over other stylised spy franchises.
Addressing the controversy around the film being based on late Major Mohit Sharma, Ankit said, “People tend to latch onto similar things that they find in two people. They see the get-up or the story of where he went and think things like, ‘Oh, he must be Mohit Sharma,’ but I don’t think they (Dhar) took any inspiration from his life.”
Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ stars Ranveer in the lead role, along with Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan in other pivotal roles.
After the film’s massive success, its sequel ‘Dhurandhar 2’, is slated to release on March 19, 2026.
