Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC kicked off their ISL-10 campaign in style on Saturday.
Enjoying great support at the rain-soaked Kalinga Stadium home ground, Odisha scored once in each session to see off the challenge of Chennaiyin FC 2-0.
It was a dream start at the Bhubaneswar-based club for Spanish coach Sergio Lobera, who is one of the most successful coaches in the league having tasted success with FC Goa and Mumbai City FC earlier.
Odisha FC, fresh from a breakthrough season when they qualified for ISL playoffs for the first time and made the AFC Cup cut after winning the SuperCup, took the lead moments before half-time through Jerry Mawihmingthanga.
Diego Mauricio, their prolific Brazilian striker, made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute.
Odisha FC will next face Mumbai City on September 28, also at home.
