Bambolim (Goa): Odisha FC ran Bengaluru FC close but ultimately fell short again to lose 1-2 in their ISL-7 clash at GMC Stadium here on Thursday evening.
It was Odisha FC’s fifth defeat in six games this season, as they occupy 10th place in the 11-team league. They have a solitary point in their kitty.
Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, are still unbeaten as they moved up to third with 12 points from six games.
Odisha FC had a ‘goal’ disallowed in the first session, which was otherwise dominated by Bengaluru FC. Talismanic striker Sunil Chhetri rose above the Odisha defence to head home the first goal in the 36th minute.
Odisha roared back after the change of ends and equalised in the 71st minute through their skipper Steven Taylor.
Just when it looked Odisha would push for their first victory of the season, Cleiton Silva restored Bengaluru FC’s lead with a 79th-minute strike.
