Bambolim (Goa): Struggling Odisha FC suffered their heaviest defeat of ISL-7 as they went down 1-6 to Mumbai City FC at GMC Stadium here on Wednesday evening.
Odisha FC made an encouraging start as their talismanic striker Diego Mauricio scored from a penalty in the ninth minute. It was the Brazilian’s 11th goal of the competition, pushing him to joing third in the scorer’s list.
Odisha FC, under Steven Dias – their third coach of the season – held on to their lead for five minutes before the floodgates opened.
Bartholomew Ogbeche equalised and added one more before half-time. But it was young Bipin Singh who floored Odisha FC with a hat-trick, his goals coming in 38th, 47th and 86th minute.
Cy Goddard joined the party with a strike in the 44th minute.
Bottom-rankers Odisha FC, with one match to play, remained on 9 points.
Mumbai City FC, on the other hand, kept their hopes of finishing top of the table with 37 points from 19 matches.
