Vasco: There was no change in Odisha FC’s fortunes in ISL-7 on Sunday, as they suffered their sixth defeat in eight matches.
Up against fellow-strugglers SC East Bengal at Tilak Maidan, Odisha FC squandered chances and failed to translate their possessional advantage in the first session to go two goals down at half time. They conceded one more late in the game before getting a consolation goal to lose 1-3.
Odisha FC thus remained at the bottom of the table with just 2 points. They are the only team among 11 in the league without a win yet.
SC East Bengal, on the other hand, posted their first win to take their tally to 6 points.
Anthony Pilkington scored his first goal of the league to put SC East Bengal ahead after 12 minutes. Jacques Maghoma made it 2-0 just past the half-hour mark, while debutant Bright Enobakhare hit the target in the 88th minute.
Brazilian Diego Mauricio made it 1-3 in stoppage time. It was a well deserved goal for Odisha FC, who created several chances but failed to convert. Luck wasn’t on their side as well, with a goal-bound shot hitting the upright in the opening half.
