Kolkata: Odisha FC’s journey in ISL-9 ended on Saturday night as they lost 0-2 to ATK Mohun Bagan in Knockout 2.
ATK Mohun Bagan will face Hyderabad FC, while Bengaluru FC will be up against Mumbai City FC in the semifinals.
The Juggernauts matched their mighty opponents for almost the entire first session at Salt Lake Stadium, with Diego Mauricio and Victor Rodriguez giving ATK Mohun Bagan a couple of scares only to miss out.
ATK Mohun Bagan broke the deadlock after 36 minutes. Dimitri Petratos caught the Odisha players napping with a quick corner, putting in a low cross in the goalmouth. Before goalkeeper Amrinder Singh could get to the ball, Manvir Singh managed a lovely back-heel towards the far post, and the alert Hugo Boumous swivelled and sent it to the back of the net.
ATK Mohun Bagan looked to press the accelerator, and Amrinder had to be at his best to deny the green-and-maroons.
But then Petratos dealt the killer blow just before the hour-mark.
After Carl McHugh won a good challenge, Boumous picked up the ball and sent it wide to Petratos. The striker hit struck on the run with a sweetly-timed right-footer past Amrinder.
There was no way back for Odisha FC.
