Bhubaneswar: Bengaluru FC retained top spot after they posted an emphatic win over Jamshedpur FC by 2-0 goal in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
While Miku scored the first goal in the 23rd minute while Sunil Chhetri shot the second goal four minutes in the second half.
Bengaluru got the opening in the first half when Miku got a pass from Toni Dovale and squared the ball into the box. But Chhetri failed to touch the ball. The team got the second chance but failed when Miku after receiving a beautiful cross-pass from Udanta Singh could not put the ball in the net as his header missed the target.
Minutes later, Bengaluru drew the first blood after Subrata Paul brought down Miku in the penalty box. The Venezuelan forward easily converted the penalty shot.
The Blues increased their lead in the 34th minute when Chhetri produced a thumping header after receiving the corner from Dimas Delgado.
Jamshedpur got an opportunity in the dying moments in the first half when Izu Azuka fired a low shot on the target. But Gurpreet Singh Sandhu punched the shot to ensure his side took a two-goal advantage into the break.
In the second half, Jamshedpur tried their best but could not succeed as the Bengaluru custodian thwarted two attempts with a spectacular save.
The Nigerian had two more chances against Bengaluru in the last moment of the second half. However, his free-kick and another kick from the close range was saved by the goalkeeper.
