Bhubaneswar: The Odisha FC juggernaut keeps rolling.
This time, they came from behind at their Kalinga Stadium ‘fortress’ here on Thursday night to beat East Bengal 2-1.
It was a welcome victory for Odisha FC after having drawn their previous two matches at home. They have lost just 2 out of 17 matches in the ISL so far, both away from home.
With 35 points in their kitty, Odisha are 3 ahead of second-placed Mumbai City FC, who have played a match less.
East Bengal got off to an electric start and took the lead in the very opening minute.
In a brilliant solo run after kick-off, PV Vishnu went past all defenders who came his way and scored in the 32nd second – fastest goal of this season.
Odisha were made to fight hard for the equaliser, which came in the 40th minute. Brazilian marksman Diego Mauricio won a penalty and himself converted it coolly.
Roy Krishna managed to put the ball to the back of the net, but was ruled off-side.
Odisha FC nosed ahead in the 61st minute from a setpiece. Princeton Rebello found himself in a good position following Ahmed Jahouh’s corner and slotted the ball home.
