ISL: Odisha FC Go Down Fighting To Toppers Mumbai, Stay In 3rd Place

Mumbai: Odisha FC went down 1-2 to ISL 2024 leaders Mumbai City FC here on Monday night.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz gave the home team the lead after 21 minutes of play.

Within three minutes, Odisha levelled scores through Diego Mauricio.

The teams were all square till just past the hour-mark before Lallianzuala Chhangte scored what turned out to be the winning goal for Mumbai.

Odisha FC had their chances to equalise a second time and snatch a point, but Murtada Fall missed a couple of chances.

Mumbai survived some moments and managed to hold on to the slender lead despite nine added minutes due to stoppages.

Odisha FC, with 39 points from 21 matches, are in third place.

With one match left in the league stage – against NorthEast United at Guwahati on April 13 – the Kalinga Warriors are already assured of a playoff berth.

Mumbai City consolidated their top position, taking their tally to 47 points – 5 more than second-placed Mohun Bagan — from 21 games.
