Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC saw off a spirited challenge from Mumbai City FC to share points in the ISL clash at Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday night.
The 0-0 draw took Odisha FC’s points tally to 16 from 11 matches. The Kalinga Warriors are now in fourth place – behind Mohun Bagan (20 points from 9 games), Bengaluru FC (20 from 10) and FC Goa (18 from 10).
Odisha, who will be missing striker Roy Krishna for the rest of the season after he suffered an ACL injury, were unlucky in the closing moments of the match as Diego Mauricio’s effort to beat goalie Phurba Lachenpa in a one-one-one situation rebounded off the bar.
Just before that, Odisha goalkeeper Amrinder Singh pulled off back-to-back saves to deny the visiting team the elusive goal.
Amrinder had come to Odisha’s rescue on other occasions also, including in the 53rd minute when he denied a dangerous Jayesh Rane from close range.
Mourtada Fall had a great match, too, playing all over the field and nipping many Mumbai moves in the bud.
Odisha FC will next face East Bengal, at Salt Lake Stadium on December 12.
