Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC produced a stunning performance to beat Bengaluru FC 4-2 in their ISL clash on Sunday night.
Cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd at Kalinga Stadium, Odisha FC almost sealed the deal with a domination opening session, scoring three times without reply.
Ten minutes into the game, Jerry tapped the ball in from close range to draw first blood. Mourtada Fall then outjumped the Bengaluru defenders to beat Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the 27th minute.
Goal machine Diego Mauricio handed Odisha a comfortable 3-0 lead at half-time with a neat placement three minutes into stoppage time.
The ageless Sunil Chhetri pulled one back for Bengaluru FC seven minutes after half-time. However, Mauricio restored the home team’s three-goal advantage on the hour mark with a fine solo run into the box.
Bengaluru upped the ante, getting a second goal through Edgar Mendez. But it was too late, too late.
It was Odisha’s third win at home, helping them to climb to third place with 15 points from 10 matches.
The Juggernauts will host Mumbai City FC on December 5.
