ISL: Table-Toppers Odisha FC Settle For Goalless Draw Vs Mohun Bagan

Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC earned a crucial point to stay atop the ISL standings after a goalless draw in their top-of-the-table clash against Mohun Bagan at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday.

Odisha FC have 32 points from 16 matches, followed closely by Mumbai City FC (31 from 15) and Mohun Bagan (30 from 15).

Odisha FC defence faced a stern test from Mohun Bagan. Despite creating a number of chances, the visitors from Kolkata failed to find the target as the home team’s defence came out with flying colours.

Early in the game, Armando Sadiku’s inviting ball found Dimitros Petratos, but the Australian striker failed to capitalise.

At the other end, Odisha FC’s Isak Ralte shot straight at Bagan custodian Vishal Kaith.

Sadiku’s shot was blocked by Mourtada Fall. The Albanian forward came close at least twice more, but Odisha defenders and goalie Amrinder Singh managed to thwart him.

Odisha FC were unlucky in first-half stoppage time as Diego Mauricio’s shot struck the bar.

Mohun Bagan, needing victory to catapult Odisha to top spot, went all out for the winner, but Petratos’ effort was saved kept away.

Roy Krishna missed a great opportunity in the 62nd minute, failing to convert after a brilliant run.

Mohun Bagan nearly snatched a late winner only to be denied by Amrinder, who palmed away Jason Cummings’ header in stoppage time.

Odisha FC will face East Bengal on February 29 at Kalinga Stadium.
