Bargarh: A young scientist working of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) died after drowning in a pond in Ambabhona block of Bargarh district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Nihar Ranjan Pradhan of Jharpalli village under Ambabhona block.
The 27-year-old was on leave and had reached his village on Saturday. On Monday morning, Pradhan and two other children of the village went to a pond to take a bath when he slipped and went deep into the water.
On hearing the two kids cry for help, some locals rushed to his rescue. Pradhan was rescued in an unconscious state and rushed to Bhukta Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors declared him dead.
Locals said Pradhan joined ISRO as a scientist in 2021.
