The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Xiaomi are reportedly at an advanced stage of talks on developing chipsets that support NaVIC, the Indian version of the Global Positioning System (GPS).
The NavIC-supported chipset is being made by Qualcomm. It will provide accurate geographical position in India and as well as up to 1500 km from its boundary.
Xiaomi is expected to launch phones having NavIC in it.
The system will provide accuracy better than 20 metres in primary service areas.
China too is ready with its own navigation system, and will become the fourth nation after US, Russia & EU and India to have so.
