Bhubaneswar: The issue of a Union minister from Odisha beating the officials was condemned by Puri MP of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Pinaki Mishra in Parliament on Thursday.
Speaking on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha, Misra said the Union minister had beaten a deputy director-level official with a chair, fracturing his arm. This is not expected from a public representative, a news agency quoted him as saying.
Contrary to the minister’s behaviour, Misra said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is courteous to even his critics.
Misra was apparently referring to Mayurbhanj MP and Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu, who is facing charges of assaulting two state government officials in Baripada on January 21.
