Rayagada: The Income Tax officials conducted raids on the business establishments of a jewellery shop owner in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday.
The IT officials from Rayagada, Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district and Jeypore in Koraput carried out the raid on Sabitri Jewellers in the town. The raid continued from 11 am to 7 pm.
The IT raids were also conducted on the residential house, two rice mills and a lodging of the jewellery shop owner Kintali Amarnath.
While Amarnath said it was a routine check, the IT officials did not reveal the details of their findings.
However, sources said the raid was conducted following complaints of evasion of income tax and not issuing bills to the customers by the jewellery shop and other business establishments.
