Bhubaneswar: A student of an ITI college at Mancheswar in Odisha capital found hanging at the hostel of the private institute on Friday.
The deceased student has been identified as Rudra Madhab Rana, a resident of Keonjhar district.
Though the reason behind his death was yet to be ascertained, his mother said that Rudra might have taken the extreme step after being trashed by a teacher. “Bhawani sir had beaten my son yesterday. He had informed me about the incident over phone. He had earlier said that he would end his life if the teacher beats him again,” the deceased’s mother said.
She further said that she had called the hostel warden to inform him about the incident and urged him to allow Rudra to go home. “The warden told me that they need the permission of the college authorities for it,” she added.
Meanwhile, police have recovered the body for postmortem and started an investigation. The statement of the college authorities have been recorded and the accused teacher will also be questioned on the basis of the complaint lodged by Rudra’s family, sources said.
