Cuttack: In its probe into the ITR espionage case in Odisha, the Crime Branch has unearthed more details about the modus operandi of the mysterious woman who used to collect classified defence information from the five accused.
Crime Branch ADG Sanjeeb Panda told the media on Saturday that the woman had proposed marriage to two of the accused. She had also asked one of them to visit her house at Chandipur.
“The woman was in contact with the five accused through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. She had created seven fake accounts on Facebook,” the ADG said.
Panda said the woman used a UK phone number to talk to the accused. Investigators were tracing the call records to ascertain her real identity, he added.
A day earlier on Friday, Crime Branch SP Prashant Kumar Bisoyihad had said the mysterious woman agent, who had allegedly honey-trapped the five accused in the DRDO espionage case, had proposed to marry one of the accused.
Panda said the Crime Branch will again take the five accused on remand very soon for more interrogation.
