New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was trolled for sharing a selfie with women MPs on Monday, has now posted pictures of himself with male MPs.
In the pictures, Shashi Tharoor posed with male MPs and said in the caption, “More comradeship in Parliament as MPs assemble this morning, but no one expects these to go viral. Though I am an equal-opportunity offender!”
In Monday’s post as the Winter Session of Parliament commenced, Tharoor posed in a selfie with Baramati MP Supriya Sule, Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian, Jadavpur MP Mimi Chakraborty, Basirhat MP Nushrat Jahan, and Karur MP S Jothimani.
“Who says the Lok Sabha isn’t an attractive place to work? With six of my fellow MPs this morning (sic),” he captioned it, which didn’t go down well with Twitterati.
They slammed Shashi Tharoor for his post, calling it “sexist” and “disrespectful”. After the backlash, Shashi Tharoor apologised in a new post.
It seems the apology and the new post with male MPs didn’t impress social media users either and Tharoor found himself on the receiving end. This new post is nothing but a “cover-up for yesterday’s fiasco,” said netizens.
One of the users said, “Please accept your mistake.” Here’s one more: “Come on @ShashiTharoor. Surely you know that earlier tweet was at the very least sexist.”
