New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) is now officially renamed as the Ministry of Education following President Ram Nath Kovind’s nod for the name change on Monday.
A gazette notification was published on Monday to announce President Kovind’s assent to change the name of the MHRD to the Ministry of Education.
The gazette notification added that the heading Ministry of Human Resources Development stands substituted to the Ministry of Education.
However, the change of the ministry’s name was part of the recommendations of the new draft National Education Policy (NEP). It may be recalled that NEP 2020 was approved by the Union Cabinet in July. The formal announcement was left to be made later.
