Bhubaneswar: The second day of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup saw a goal fest at Kalinga Stadium.
Top teams toyed with the minnows, resulting in a whopping 48 goals being scored in the first three matches on Thursday.
Argentina started off the goal rush by pumping in 14 past Egypt in a Pool D encounter. There were nine different scorers for Argentina, with Zarate Facundo netting a hat-trick.
The second match saw The Netherlands, one of the top contenders for the title, thrash Korea 12-5 in Pool C. Bukkens Miles alone scored five times, including four field goals.
Spain, another frontrunner, outdid Argentina by walloping the United States 17-0 in the second Pool C fixture. Gerard Clapes was Spain’s standout performer, scoring four goals.
India will take on Canada in a crucial Pool B match this evening. It’s a must-win game for the home team after having lost a thriller 4-5 against France on the opening day.
