IWAI Officials Discuss Development Plan Of NW 5 Passing Through Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Senior officials of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) on Monday discussed modalities of National Waterways 5 passing through Odisha.

The high level meeting was chaired by IWAI Chairman Vijay Kumar, and officials of the Shipping ministry and stakeholders involved in the project participated.

According to the IWAI, the officials discussed financial analysis report and plan for development of NW 5 in Odisha with stakeholders today.

“From various considerations, the focus is on developing 332 kms of total stretch of NW 5,” the IWAI informed.

National Waterway 5 (NW-5) is one of six National Waterways in India and it covers the state of Odisha and a part of West Bengal.

It runs a total length of 623 km of which 91 km is within West Bengal and the remaining 532 km is in Odisha.
