Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC got their Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2023-24 campaign off to a brilliant start as they outplayed local rivals Sports Odisha 4-0 at Capital Football Arena here on Friday.

Odisha FC took the lead in the 9th minute as Karthika’s corner was headed in by Manisa Panna.

Pyari Xaxa missed the opportunity to double Odisha FC’s lead when he failed to convert a penalty in the 15th minute.

Changing ends with a slender lead, Odisha made it 2-0 in the 56th minute when Win Theingi Tun connected with her head to direct Jasoda’s corner kick into the goal.

Win scored her second goal a minute later, finishing off another assist from Jasoda with a powerful strike.

Win came close to a hat-trick, but her header off a cross from Malati Munda narrowly missed the mark in the 86th minute.

Malati herself scored a minute later as she shot home past the goalkeeper from a tight angle to complete the 4-0 rout.

Odisha FC will next face Gokulam Kerala FC at home on December 20.
