Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC bounced back from defeat in their previous game in style, routing former champions Eastern Sporting Union 4-0 in their Indian Women’s League (IWL) clash at Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
The convincing win against Eastern Sporting, who had won the inaugural edition of IWL in 2016-17, was Odisha FC’s second in three games. They began their campaign with a 6-0 demolition of CRPF FC before going down 0-2 to Kickstart FC.
On Wednesday, Odisha FC came out all guns blazing at TransStadia Stadium and took the lead after 17 minutes through Anju, thanks to a delightful assist from Bala Devi. Eight minutes later, Anju returned the favour with a measured cross which was headed home by Bala Devi.
Odisha added to their tally soon after half-time as Grace precise cross was directed to the goal by Jasoda.
Odisha defence stood their ground to deny Eastern Union, who tried to stage a comeback.
Lynda closed out a perfect morning by scoring OFC’s fourth goal with virtually the last kick of the game.
Odisha FC will next face Churchill Brothers FC at Shahibaug Police Stadium on May 5.
