Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to roll out Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (G-JAY) and Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana on Friday.
The schemes will be launched by Union Health Minister J P Nadda at Cuttack’s Bali Jatra ground at 2.30 pm. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling will also attend the event.
Meanwhile, Nadda has arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two-day visit to the state and will soon head for Cuttack. He was received by the CM, state BJP chief Manmohan Samal and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi at the airport here.
The Health Scheme
The AB-PMJAY will be implemented in the state by integrating it with the existing Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), earlier known as Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). Around 3.5 crore people from 1.03 crore families in the state will benefit from the scheme, which will provide insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per family with additional Rs 5 lakh for women members. The beneficiaries will get free cash-less treatment in 29,000 registered private and government hospitals across the country. Previously, this facility was limited to only 900 hospitals.
Under the Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana, all persons aged 70 years and above, regardless of income, will be eligible for coverage. They will be provided with a separate card.
If the family includes a member aged 70 or above, the total health coverage will be Rs 15 lakh.
Last month, the state cabinet approved a budgetary allocation of Rs 27,019 crore for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat and GJAY for a period of five years.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
The Commissionerate Police has imposed traffic restrictions in Cuttack city for Nadda’s engagements from 11.30 am to 6 pm.
“The traffic restrictions have been imposed in the larger interest of public safety. Any violation in this regard will invite penalties up to Rs 1,000,” said the Commissionerate Police.
However, these restrictions will not be applicable for the emergency vehicles including police, Fire Brigade and ambulance.
NADDA’S ITINERARY
During his visit to Cuttack, the Union Minister will also inaugurate the new building of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics.
His itinerary also includes visits to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET).
On Saturday morning, Nadda will formally inaugurate a three-day training programme for all BJP MPs and MLAs in Puri. The training programme will be held from April 11 evening to April 13.
