Cuttack: Senior lawyer Jagabandhu Sahu was elected as the president of the Orissa High Court Bar Association on Saturday. Dr Jitendra Kumar Lenka was elected as the secretary.
Sahu bagged 1272 votes to defeat his nearest rival, Kali Prasanna Mishra, who bagged 864 votes. Lenka defeated his nearest rival, Alok Prasad Nanda, by 35 votes.
Apart from this, Debi Prasad Das was elected as the vice-president, Pranay Kumar Swai as joint secretary, Tapas Kumar Achayar as assistant secretary and Bijay Kumar Mishra as assistant secretary (Library) of the Association.
The election was held under one-bar-one-vote rules in which all office-bearers of 142 bar associations affiliated to the Odisha State Bar Council participated.
