Puri: Taking note of the delay in the construction of the three chariots of the deities by 13 days, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to expedite the work while maintaining social distancing norms.
Briefing the media here on Friday after a meeting with the sevayats and the Maharana (carpenter) sevayats, SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar said the construction work will be taken up in 200 sq feet area at Ratha Khala outside Jagannath Temple, which will be declared as a restricted zone.
Health check-up and COVId-19 test of over 150 ‘Biswakarma Maharanas’ engaged in the construction work will be conducted, he said.
“Arrangements will be made to accommodate the sevayats at Bhakta Niwas and they will be driven in and out of Rath Khala in special buses,” Kumar said.
Puri collector will give a daily update on the progress in the construction of the chariots, he added.
