Puri: The Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town will remain closed for the devotees for 4 hours in evening on Monday.
According to sources, tomorrow is 12th day of the bright fortnight of Baisakh month in Odia calendar. On this day, the ‘Paitalagi’ ritual of sibling deities in the temple – Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra – is performed.
Since ‘Paitalagi’ is a secret ritual, it is performed after closing all the doors of the temple. Except the servitors, nobody is allowed inside the temple during the ritual.
Considering this, the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Sunday announced that the main doors of the temple will remain closed from 6 pm to 10 pm. The devotees will not be allowed to go inside the temple for darshan of the deities during the 4-hour period.
