New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the appeal of the Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati with regard to the reforms in the Jagannath Temple.
Informing the media, the counsel of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Swetaketu Mishra, said that the Shankaracharya had appealed to the apex court to allow him to be a party on matters relating to the reforms in the Jagannath Temple. But the court, while rejecting his appeal, said that the Shankaracharya can only give advice and suggestion on temple reforms.
The apex court later deferred its hearing on this matter indefinitely.
