Puri: A sevayat of the Jagannath temple fractured his leg after an idol inside the temple premises fell on him early on Sunday.
According to reports, Jambeswar Mohapatra had gone to the temple to perform the rituals of Lord Ugra Nrusingha inside the western gate of the temple. After bathing the Lord, he was putting up a new cloth on the Lord when the idol of Hiranyakashipu on the lap of the Lord snapped and fell on his leg.
Soon after the incident, the temple police rushed him to the district headquarters hospital where the X-Ray revealed a fracture on his leg.
Following the advice of the doctors, he was later referred to the Shree Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Soon after getting the information, Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar met the family members of the sevayat at his residence.
Assuring that the SJTA will bear the cost of the treatment for the sevayat, Kumar said that an official has been deployed to coordinate in the Shree Hospital.
