Puri: The Jagannath Temple here will remain closed for four hours on Wednesday because of Banakalagi rituals of the Lords.
Sources said the temple will remain closed from 4pm to 8pm. During this period, the sacred Banakalagi ritual will be performed by temple servitors. The temple administration said no devotees will be allowed inside the temple.
Sources said the Banakalagi rituals will be conducted after the second Bhoga Mandapa ritual. This ritual is generally performed by the Dutta Mohapatra Sevakas. Different types of natural colours like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar, glue of Kaintha are used to prepare Banaka, which is used to decorate the sibling deities.
