Puri: The Jagannath Temple here will remain closed for four hours on Wednesday for ‘Banakalagi’ rituals of the Lords.
According to sources, the temple will remain closed from 4 pm to 8 pm. During this period, the sacred ritual of Banakalagi will be performed by the temple servitors. No devotees will be allowed inside the temple, informed the temple administration.
The Dutta Mohapatra Sevakas generally perform this ritual. Different types of natural colours like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar, glue of Kaintha are used to prepare Banaka, which will be used for decorating the sibling deities.
