Bhubaneswar: As part of Operation Clean-up, Odisha Police have shifted the ‘potentially dangerous’ and ‘hardcore’ undertrials and convicts from Jharpada special jail in Bhubaneswar to other prisons.
On Thursday, police shifted Kanhu Mishra, alias Budha — an accused involved in the murder of Jharpada special jail warder Manas Ranjan Nayak in 2009 — to Kendrapada district jail.
Another accused Bikram Nayak was shifted to Sambalpur district jail two months ago, while two other accused Tito and Pinta were earlier shifted to Sambalpur and Angul district jails, respectively.
Jail authorities launched ‘Operation Clean-up’ a few weeks ago to keep hardcore criminals away from each other and prevent organized crime being orchestrated from behind the bars.
