Jajpur Gang Rape: Cops Arrest Girl’s Uncle

Jajpur: Police on Wednesday arrested the prime accused in the abduction and gang rape of a girl in Jajpur district.

The tormentor turned out to be her uncle, as is the case in 95 per cent such ordeals, where the accused is know to the survivor.

The main accused, identified as Bijay Kanta, was arrested by police after the medical examination of the girl. He has been forwarded to the court.

“The girl was abducted on August 20 from Madhuban Bazaar here. She was taken to a house at a secluded place and gang-raped by a group of miscreants for 28 days. The matter came to the fore on Sunday after the girl, who was thrown into Kharasrota river, by the wrong doers, managed to swim ashore and reached Routpur village in the district. After the survivor narrated her ordeal before locals, they immediately rushed her to Kuakhia police station,” a police officer said.

Basing on the statement of the girl and her family members, police started investigation and caught hold of the accused following raids at different places in the village and nearby places. “Further, investigation is on and other persons involved in the crime will be nabbed at the earliest,” the officer added.
