Balasore: Following heavy rainfall in the upper catchments, the water level of Jalaka river has crossed the danger mark in Balasore district.
The river at Mathani was flowing at a height of 6.03 metres as against the danger mark of 5.5 metres by Sunday noon.
If it rains more in the upper catchments, the floodwaters of the river will enter 10 panchayats of Basta block and two panchayats of Sadar block, sources said.
There has been heavy rainfall in the upper catchments of the river in Rasgobindpur, Morada, Suliapada and Chitrada in Mayurbhanj district for the last four days.
