Bhubaneswar: The Jalaka was flowing above the danger mark in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday due to incessant rainfall in upper catchment areas.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), the water level was recorded at 5.99 metres near Mathani under Basta block at 9 am against the danger mark of 5.5 metres.
Four other rivers – Brahmani, Burhabalanga, Subarnarekha and Vansadhara – are also swelling at five places across the state.
Floodwater is being released from two gates of Hirakud Dam as the reservoir is at its full capacity of 630 ft. While 63,536 cusec water was entering the reservoir and the same amount of water was being released, it added.
